Athlete Ally Supports New Hampshire’s HB1319 That Adds Protections for Transgender Citizens
Next week, New Hampshire’s House Judiciary Committee will have a second hearing on HB1319, a bill to update the current non-discrimination law to include transgender citizens. The groundswell of support and hours of testimony for HB1319 at the first hearing underscores the tremendous public support calling for the fundamental rights of transgender people in New Hampshire to be protected. Athlete Ally has been mobilizing the athletic community to speak out in support of HB1319.

“New Hampshire is the last state in New England to have no explicit protections for transgender people in housing, employment, and public accommodation — so a person could be fired from a job, evicted from their home, or denied access to a bar or a restaurant, based solely on their gender identity. In a climate where we see civil rights for so many marginalized communities disappearing, it is absolutely critical that we support HB1319 and ensure comprehensive nondiscrimination protections for the entire LGBTQ community.”
