New York, NY (May 30, 2019) – In celebration of World Pride and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, Athlete Ally, a nonprofit LGBTQ athletic advocacy group and The Dominick, the only AAA Five-Diamond hotel in SoHo, announce a partnership that will launch in June. The Dominick is also the preferred New York City hotel partner for Athlete Ally this year.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with The Dominick in celebration of the LGBTQ community this Pride,” said Hudson Taylor, Executive Director of Athlete Ally. “Their support of the LGBTQ community is a strong testament to the power of the hospitality industry in making sure we all feel welcomed and at home, wherever we are.”
The collaboration will include “Poolside Pride,” a rooftop terrace cocktail hour series at The Dominick’s recently revamped Terrace on 7 during select nights this summer. Located on the borders of SoHo, TriBeCa and the West Village, The Dominick’s imposingly tall exterior makes the hotel stand out from afar, but inside, the vibe is cozy, soothing and eco-friendly in a discreet and unobtrusive way. The Dominick, which recently rebranded its rooftop terrace space, will sponsor the first hour of open bar featuring well drinks, beer and wine, along with hors d’oeuvres. The Dominick will donate 10 percent of the evening’s proceeds to Athlete Ally.
“As we look to create the story of The Dominick, diversity and inclusion are core values that we celebrate,” said Justine McCleery, Hotel Manager at The Dominick. “Our partnership with Athlete Ally is an opportunity for the community to honor the milestone 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in a space that is inclusive.
The Poolside Pride at Terrace on 7 events are by invitation only.
About Athlete Ally:
Athlete Ally believes sport will change the world when it welcomes and empowers all people. As a leading national nonprofit working at the intersection of sport and LGBTQ equality, Athlete Ally works to end the structural and systemic oppression that isolates, excludes and endangers LGBTQ people in sport. We educate individuals and institutions to understand obstacles to inclusion for LGBTQ people and how they can build an inclusive culture within their athletic communities. We work to ensure sport governing bodies, teams and leagues adopt policies that reflect the diversity of their constituents. We incubate athlete activism to advance LGBTQ equality in and through sport.
