Patrick Slogic

I never even considered the possibility of coming out for my career in college and as a professional. I was entirely convinced that revealing it meant the end of soccer, family, and friends. It wasn’t until one of my friends came out to me that I realized that you could actually break through that barrier and without losing what makes your life meaningful. After finding the strength to get through it myself, I have never felt more confident, and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off me. Coming out of hiding won’t be an easy process, but I want to convey to other players out there that the benefits of being open will far outweigh any of the concerns you have with it. You will be closer to the people who care about you, and you will have a whole community supporting you in whatever it is you wish do in your life.
