Visibility is SO important. Being an athlete at this level provides a great platform to raise awareness and change perspectives for the better. If I can save just one life or empower a person struggling with their identity, I’m doing my part as a person and elite athlete. I didn’t have a role model to directly identify with when I began coming out, but I am now here as one. Sport is one of the most powerful institutions in the world — we need to use it to increase awareness and inclusivity, to empower people to be themselves by simply being ourselves! Athlete Ally’s mission aligns directly with my values, and I’m stoked to be part of this!
