Athlete Ally and The Huffington Post continue to partner on the Voice to Voice series, an ongoing conversation with LGBT and ally people of color about homophobia, biphobia, sexism, and transphobia in sports. This month’s interview is with Ohio State track and field star, and out and proud gay athlete, Derrick Anderson.
Moderator Jonathan Teinor talks with Anderson about the acceptance of his teammates, his inspiring family, and the importance of coming out:
“Being yourself shouldn’t be something that you battle everyday. It should be something that you can do. If you’re scared, you have to get over it. There’s going to be a lot of battles in life. You shouldn’t have a battle within yourself while you have external battles to fight.”
